How to make your Windows taskbar transparent

How do you make the taskbar transparent?
Open TranslucentTB using its taskbar notification icon, find the normal desktop state and choose Clear. This makes the taskbar background more transparent. Depending on your Windows version and color settings, Acrylic may provide a tinted translucent effect rather than complete transparency.
Why the wallpaper matters
A transparent taskbar shows more of whatever is behind it. Icons and system indicators can become harder to read over detailed or bright wallpaper. Try Acrylic or adjust color rather than chasing absolute transparency at the expense of legibility.
Match different desktop situations
Dynamic modes can change the look when a maximized app is in front, when Start opens, or when Windows Search is active. For example, a Clear desktop may be paired with a more opaque maximized-window state so application content does not interfere with readability.
Fix transparency that will not stick
Confirm the tray app is running, reset the chosen state, then inspect whether another taskbar tool is rewriting visual properties. Check major Windows update notes if a previously working mode disappears.
Practical checklist before changing taskbar settings
Check your Windows build using winver, record the current taskbar appearance, and verify the downloaded release is intended for your system. Change only one taskbar state at a time. After each change, open Start, maximize a window and check text readability against your wallpaper. If something looks wrong, choose Normal and exit the app before attempting further modifications.
