How to reset or uninstall TranslucentTB
Restore the default Windows taskbar and remove startup entries safely.
Restore the regular taskbar first
Use the TranslucentTB tray menu to choose Normal or exit the application. This returns control of taskbar appearance to Windows without needing to alter system files.
Remove a Store or packaged app
Open Windows Settings, navigate to Installed apps, find TranslucentTB and select uninstall. The precise wording varies across Windows 10 and Windows 11. Restart Explorer or sign out if visual changes remain.
Clean up portable usage
Close the application, delete any custom startup shortcut you created, then remove the extracted portable directory once you no longer need it. Check that a second packaged installation is not also running.
Reset after conflicts
If you used additional taskbar customization tools, undo those changes independently. Uninstalling TranslucentTB will not necessarily revert configurations made by other programs. Test a clean Windows taskbar before reinstalling.
Practical checklist before changing taskbar settings
Check your Windows build using winver, record the current taskbar appearance, and verify the downloaded release is intended for your system. Change only one taskbar state at a time. After each change, open Start, maximize a window and check text readability against your wallpaper. If something looks wrong, choose Normal and exit the app before attempting further modifications.
On computers managed by an organization, ask your administrator before changing taskbar or Windows startup settings. Downloading software from an unfamiliar mirror is not a substitute for checking the source, authenticity and file contents.
Get TranslucentTB
Use the download control or compare the current published files at the developer’s GitHub releases. The download button below invokes this site’s FileDrop integration, not a bundled executable. Verify the file and publisher before installing.
